Young oil mogul Luke Garrett can't get his business counterpart to return his calls after a deal goes bad. After making every effort to contact the man, Luke decides to kidnap his former partner's son, Alex, to gain the man's attention to their shared problem.

Alex Parker is celebrating his eighteenth birthday by getting drunk with his best friend ... and studiously avoiding the debutantes his father tries to throw his way. His night of revelry is cut short when he finds himself a houseguest of a rather unconventional abductor.

Though he's angry and scared, Alex is drawn to Luke, whose plan falls apart when his attraction to Alex generates a change of heart. Luke can't do anything else but turn himself in to the police, much to Alex's dismay. Will Alex lose his chance at something great before it even begins?

Alex blinked his eyes open, feeling disorientated and nauseated. His gaze met only darkness and after a moment he panicked, thinking he was blindfolded. Alex groped around as murky shadows surrounding him began to form into shapes. He let out a stuttering breath when he knew nothing obstructed his sight. Alex groaned. Everything in his body felt sore. He scrambled up to a sitting position and looked around the room. In the dim light he found that the things here looked expensive, the four-poster bed, the huge plasma TV hanging on the wall, the rugs, and all the dark wood work. Alex wondered who the rich people were who had wanted to kidnap him and why. They didn't seem to need the ransom money.

A key turned in the lock, and he tensed. He held his breath as the door opened and then blinked at the sudden bright light as the person switched on a lamp. Alex squinted. The man was dressed in an unbuttoned white shirt with a necklace and a big pendant hanging from his neck. He stepped inside, flashing his hard chest. Alex's breath caught. Tall, dark, and handsome were personified in the guy, who Alex thought to be in his thirties. His wet, dark blond hair was cropped short, his thick eyebrows almost met in the middle, and his eagle-sharp eyes looked almost golden as they pierced into Alex's, making his heart beat harder The stranger hadn't yet said anything but he gave Alex goosebumps.

"Wh-who are you? Why did you do this to me?"

The man sat at the edge of the bed. His eyes softened and the way the corners of his lips curled up seemed to tell Alex not to worry, but Alex wouldn't be deceived. He wasn't going to be made a victim of Stockholm syndrome by that simple act.

"Hi. I'm Luke Garrett. I own Garrett Gas and Petroleum," the man said.

Alex gasped. GGP was one of his father's business counterparts.

"Why did you kidnap me?"
