Theo groaned. This was a terrible idea. They were outnumbered, they had no weapons or backup, and they had no knowledge about how dangerous this species was. One blowjob and rim job should not shift Theo away from reason. Reason was a guide more reliable than passion. Passion was a fool’s map that often led to despair.

“Anyone have anything to write with?” Theo asked, facing his fellow astronauts.

“Here,” Tianna responded, retrieving a paper and pen from a stuffed pocket on her suit.

Theo made quick work of his drawing. He drew Ryder's drinking blood from him and made sure to depict it pleasantly. He drew a smile on his face and drew himself standing and leaving to ensure they knew it was not lethal. He doubted they could break the language barrier, but he could draw their way to an understanding. He handed the drawing to the hot pink monarch.

“Trrr. Gfulo? Gfulo mski,” the blurb responded, his head swaying like a shaken pudding.

Theo shrugged, pointing again at the drawing. Ryder stared at the drawing and then smirked. He opened his mouth, showing his fangs. He pointed to his fangs and to Ryder’s neck, then to the blob’s. He rubbed his belly and pouted. It was a convincing show of sadness.

The monarch made a series of whistles and clucks before grabbing Ryder and dragging him through the center. The monk’s yell sounded like a whale’s call. Other blobs exited buildings and followed the leader to the forest. Their ship stood untouched in the distance. Theo glanced back at the monarch and gaped. Ryder had vanished again.

“Rrthdyer,” the monarch shouted, unable to form the sounds of Ryder’s name.

Theo scanned the field of thousands of blobs. He couldn’t find Ryder anywhere. The others did not appear shocked or upset.

“We grab some blood and go. This planet’s gravity is too brutal to settle here,” Tianna ordered, nodding to the ship. She smiled and bowed her head to the creatures.

“Based on the status of other species, it is plausible they welcome outsiders. We were met with no violence or even safety protocols,” Francine countered. “We should mark this on the map and return here if needed,” Francine added.

Before Theo could form an opinion on the matter, Ryder re-emerged. Ryder beamed in joy, carrying a blue blob in his hands.

“Put that alien down!” Theo yelled, gaping in shock. Theo narrowed his eyes into a withering glare. It did little.

“He said it was fine,” Ryder hissed, his voice mumbled as his fangs hovered below the blob’s eyes.

“Tikkish,” the alien declared as if Theo and the others understood what that meant.

Ryder nodded, pretending to understand the blob’s speech. The texture of the alien’s body was like a gummy bear.

The other aliens clicked and made sounds like a baby to one another. Dolphins click, and seals bark, traversing the woods, impossible to understand. The aliens bobbed and swayed, energetic. If it was good energy or bad energy, Ryder could not tell.

“Everyone lines up. We can grab some IVs and collect some blood!” Ryder ordered, grinning.

“No. No. Not. Put that alien down!” Theo argued, his mood shifting and surging like waves. Anger, shock, and even a small laugh was suppressed as Theo gazed at the blobs.

Their calm expression made Theo wonder if they would allow Ryder to collect blood. Theo was certain Ryder would not attack someone.

“Tsura,” the monarch yelled, his pudding-like body swaying.

Several of the blobs squinted in unison. Green liquid dripped from their bodies. A small piece of each of their bodies flew off them into a pile at Ryder’s feet. The pile added quickly into a feast that could feed dozens. The blob in Ryder’s hands provided Ryder with a small piece of him. Ryder cheered, sinking his teeth into the gift the blob gave him. The blob’s eyes swirled, and a giggle erupted from him.

“Tricu!” the blob cheered, swaying drunkenly.

Theo did not need to guess what the alien was saying. The alien was dizzy and delighted, as Theo had been when Ryder had sunk his teeth into him. The other aliens jumped, excited at the reaction.

Ryder’s reaction was not as pleasant. His face paled, and his mouth opened in shock. He gagged and suppressed his vomit. He clutched his chest and fell to the ground. His wheezing breaths scared Theo. Theo ran to Ryder’s side, concerned something in the alien’s body would kill him.

“You reckless fool. What were you thinking? We should have studied them before you bit into them,” Theo chastised.
