I thoroughly enjoyed this beginning to a new series. It was fun to watch Leon and Will work through their issues.....mostly. *grins* I would have enjoyed it more if there had been more background detail from when they were kids, and some fleshing out of their lives as adults.

Also, I would have given more than 3 stars had there not been so many editing errors. After a while that gets very frustrating and detracts from the story. At least, in my opinion.

What's the saying whatsoever does not kills you make you stronger. With that being said here we are again back for another energy packed adventure with our boys at RFH West. This time our love story is about sweet energetic Flyer who has been battling his own personal demons when tall, muscular handsome bad boy leather wearing Styx walks Into Romans office for a job interview. Let's just say the sexual attraction hits our sweet flyers right in the balls. Ohhh don't think they have an easy romance, nah the author would have none of that. When someone from Flyers and the Earls brothers past come back like a bad case of mutant crabs. Let's just say another old saying comes to mind Better the devil you know then the devil you don't. Let's just say Carson picked the wrong devil in Sammie. Will there be a happy ever after or more bodies than a dance floor in NYC. I will not tell you just have to buy a copy.

I give this book five stars it was freaking awesome.

"A “purring billionaire” makes me think of all kinds of fun, and the idea of a shifter who is also an influential businessman got my attention. In most supernatural stories shifters are just powerful within their pack or pride and don’t interact much with human affairs, but that is not the case in this world. Here shifters are integrated into human society, and even though they used to suffer some discrimination, most humans (except the all-present bigots) have no issue with them. Based on the blurb, this story promised a rich lion shifter out for revenge, a down-on-his-luck human who sees no option other than prostitution if he wants to make his rent payment (never mind eat), and a combination of the “big misunderstanding in the past”, the “knight in shining armor”, and the Cinderfella tropes. And it delivers on all of these! Will is trying to make an honest living, ever since a certain lion shifter took everything away from him, but he can’t seem to make ends meet. He lives in a one-room hovel of an apartment and flips burgers for a living, he has already had to let his dog go to a new owner, but he can’t make his rent (again), and hasn’t eaten a decent meal in weeks. Will doesn’t want to be homeless or go to a shelter, so he decides to have sex for money. The bill collectors are on his heels when his client turns up – and to Will’s shock the man is his old nemesis: Leon, the man he loved in high school, the guy who destroyed his company. Faced with a choice of being beaten up or going with Leon, Will bites the bullet and faces cruel treatment by a man out for revenge. Leon is an alpha lion shifter and a very successful businessman, but he has had to work hard to get there. Taunted in high school for being a shifter, betrayed in the worst way by his boyfriend Will (or so he thinks), and still more in love with Will than he wants to admit, Leon is out for revenge. But as soon as he has Will under his control and uses his body to make him submit, Leon begins to give in to feelings he thought long forgotten. As much as he tries to be cruel (and from Will’s point of view it looks pretty bad), Leon can’t enjoy the revenge he has planned for so many years. Neither Leon nor Will ever got over each other. It was pretty clear to me that they probably misunderstood something one (or both) of them did in the past, but neither of them wanted to give the other the benefit of the doubt and they never got around to discussing it, so their anger has festered for quite a few years. It takes a shocking development for Leon to begin admitting his feelings, and it will take a lot more for Will to open up. There is the beginning of a reconciliation at the end of this book, but the full development of Will and Leon’s relationship will (hopefully) happen in the second book of this series – according to the blurb. If you like billionaires who think they can “buy” revenge for a perceived wrong of the past, if a down-on-his-luck man desperate enough to do anything is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as heartbreaking and seemingly hopeless as it is entertaining and hot, then you will probably like this first half of a longer story." -- Serena Yates, Rainbow Book Reviews

STORY EXCERPT

“I’m not taking off. I’m not. I have nowhere else to go. I live here,” Will said.

“I think you’re a lying piece of—”

“Is there a problem here?”

Will blinked. At first he didn’t think the voice was talking to him or to Bones, but then Bones looked over Will’s shoulder, and he sneered. “You a little far from home, pal? This ain’t none of your damned business.”

Will tried to look behind him, to see who was risking themselves to say that, but Bones had too strong a grip on him.

It was just a matter of time before his brothers got down here and realized what was going on.

“I’ll pay what he owes, and you will give him to me.”

Will tensed. What did that guy just say?

He tried to look again, but Bones did him a favour and turned him around, forcing him to have a look at the other man.

And all the blood in Will’s body drained into his feet. His body went colder than the ice on the sidewalk. What the fuck? No. No fucking way was Leon Nathaniel Black standing right there, in an expensive black Italian suit, standing in the wet snow that had just started to fall, right in front of a sleek Mercedes limo.

It was so damned dramatic and horrifying that Will honestly didn’t know what to do with himself. He got a moment of tunnel vision, and he thought passing out would be a blessing in that moment.

Nope. Didn’t happen.

Bones growled, a deep, scary noise that came from the depths of his throat and chest. Will yelped when the shifter used all his strength to throw Will down onto the patch of ice that turned out to be a thin layer of ice over a deeper puddle.

Will sucked back a breath as he was instantly soaked in dirty ice water.

He scrambled to get to his feet, to get out of the ice. Bone pressed his boot down onto Will’s stomach, holding him down.

“That’s enough.”

“Fuck you, this is none of your business and I’ll say when it’s enough.”

The pedestrians around all started to cross the street at the disturbance Bones was making with the guy in the suit, and Will was so embarrassed he wanted to crawl into a hole and die.

Preferably a hole that was much dryer and warmer than the one he was in right now.

“I said I can pay you what he owes.”

Bones went tense when Leon reached into his back pocket, but instead of pulling out a weapon, he pulled out a wallet. From within that wallet, came a stack of green bills so thick Will forgot all about the cold he was sitting in.

The heavy foot that pressed onto his gut pulled back. Will grunted. He’d hardly realized how much that pressure on his stomach had hurt until just then. He rolled out of the puddle, holding his stomach.

He looked up just as Bones smiled a smile that made Will shiver. And it definitely had nothing to do with the cold.

“How about I take that cash and kick your ass for getting in my business. Do you have any idea who you’re messing with?”

Leon lowered the hand of cash. “Do you?”

Will cringed. It was lucky as hell Bones’s brothers weren’t down here to help him teach Leon a lesson, otherwise, he wasn’t sure the other man would survive.

However, considering what Leon had done to him, Will wasn’t too sure he’d be all that broken up if Leon did get his ass kicked.

Bones didn’t like being spoken to like that, however, and he immediately took a hard swing at Leon’s face.

His knuckles made contact, someone screamed in the background. It was the sort of punch that would knock the head off a human.

Leon’s head turned to the side, but he didn’t so much as fall back a step. Bones wasn’t showing any outward signs of it, but Will was willing to bet that punch had also hurt his hand.

Bones was just a gamma as far as Cloud knew. Leon was an alpha. Not an alpha wolf, either. He was an alpha lion, and when he turned his golden glowing eyes back to Bones and uppercutted him, Bones flew off his feet, went into the air, and in a slow arc, came down hard on his back.

Will jerked, shivering at the sight. He looked up and around, so many frightened people were standing outside the shops where they worked. It was likely that no one would call the police. Not in this neighbourhood.

And Will was too damned chicken to move. He wasn’t a shifter. He was just a human, but if he had been a shifter, it would definitely be of the poultry variety.

Leon stepped over Bones’s prone body, and he dropped the stack of bills onto his chest like it was nothing. Will stared at the money, jealous, hating Leon for having it and for throwing it away like that couldn’t buy a person a year’s worth of security and food.

Then Leon was looking own at him.

Will turned away from his eyes.

It was too much. His blond hair was longer, but Will still saw the boy he’d been in love with in high school. He also saw the young man who took everything from him. The man was still as handsome as ever, and Will hated him for it.

Leon offered his hand.

Will slapped it away. “Leave me alone.”

“You’re going to get sick sitting in that dirty water like that.”

“I’m fine. I’m waiting for a friend.”

“You mean Big Boy eighty-eight?”

Will snapped his head back at Leon, his mouth dropping open.

Leon smirked at him. “Who do you think you’ve been chatting with? Now come on. I just paid for you, and I get what I pay for.”

ADULT EXCERPT

“This turns you on, doesn’t it?”

Will looked up at the man, and he glared, looking away.

Leon laughed. “It’s okay, you can admit it. You like submitting, don’t you? You love it when people tell you what to do.”

“Yeah,” Will said sharply. “I do like it.”

Will stared into Leon’s eyes. He looked right up at the man as he put his hands on those warm thighs. The touch of Leon’s bare skin under his fingertips was enough to make him shiver, but he didn’t look away from those amber eyes. He wanted to see lust in those depths. He wanted to see the proof that Leon was enjoying this, too.

He saw it, all right.

Will could work with that. So long as there was something in Leon that wanted this, he could work with that.

Will was not a virgin, but he wasn’t exactly the best there was at sucking cock. He’d been told by other men that he used too much teeth and was a little too rough. He tried to remember all the pointers he’d been given when he leaned in, close enough that he could smell the musk on Leon’s cock and testicles, and then slid his tongue out of his mouth and licked Leon’s throbbing, thick prick from the underside of the mushroom-shaped head, all the way down to the base.

Leon gave no outward signs of pleasure. Will didn’t want to risk looking up at him to check, but if he was going to make this good, he had to try a little harder. It wasn’t like he had to start from scratch here. Leon’s cock was already hard. All Will had to do was help him enjoy himself.

Will pressed his mouth to Leon’s testicles. They were waxed. Will hadn’t expected an alpha lion shifter to do that to himself, and he was honestly pleased. That made it easier for him when he sucked one of those balls into his mouth, and then he heard the noise he’d been hoping for. A soft moan that rumbled out of Leon’s throat. Then the purr that came from deep within his chest.

The purring sound was the thing that made Will moan around the mouthful he had.

Oh God. He’d missed that sound so damned much. He’d...he hadn’t realized how much he’d missed that sweet, low rumbling purr until he’d heard it.

And it was wonderful. When he moaned, that rumbling purr became a little louder, and Will realized the vibrations he made with his mouth were just as good as anything else. It was stimulating. Will had forgotten about that. He’d forgotten how nice it felt when the person sucking on his own cock was enjoying himself, and moaning along with him. That vibration felt good, and when Will pushed his mouth away from Leon’s testicle and put his lips around the head of Leon’s cock, he moaned again.

Leon sucked back a deep breath, his hips canting forward, pushing his cock a little deeper inside Will’s mouth.

He took as much of it as he could before he was forced to put his hands on Leon’s hips and pull back.

That was...so good. Will couldn’t believe it. He’d managed to take in almost half the length of Leon’s cock. His cock that was thick and long. That was pretty good.

“Yeah, that’s it. You’re so pretty when you suck on my dick.”

Will wasn’t sure if Leon was saying these things to rub it in, or to try and stimulate Will as well. He decided in that moment that it didn’t matter. It didn’t matter and he totally didn’t care because this felt way better than he’d thought it would. He wasn’t touching himself, and nothing was giving his dick the friction that it needed, and yet he was enjoying himself so damned much. Every pull he made with his lips brought a throb of pleasure to his cock. Every time he swirled his tongue around the column of Leon’s prick, every time he felt the throb of Leon’s heartbeat in that shaft, a jolt of pleasure, of sexual pleasure shot through Will’s body. It electrified his nipples, made the hairs on the back of his arms stand on end, and made his dick jump.

Will hollowed his cheeks. He held his breath and focused as he pushed his mouth down as far as he could go. He nearly made it all the way. His nose nearly touched the trimmed pubic hairs above Leon’s cock, but he had to pull back.

“No,” Leon sighed, pressing his hands to the back of Will’s head, trying to push him back down.

Will moaned and went as far as he could before he was forced to pull back. It was too much, too deep, and he didn’t know enough of what he was doing. He was going to choke and it wouldn’t be good for either of them.

Leon frowned when Will pulled back. Will wiped his mouth.

Leon’s voice sounded harsh with pleasure, and his eyes were dark with desire. “Don’t stop.”

Will was out of breath, too. How the hell had that happened? “I need a minute. It’s too much,” he said.

Those dark golden eyes got a little darker. “I don’t care. Do it.”

That was the harshest Leon’s voice had ever gotten, and Will tensed. He looked up at the other man, and he felt a thrill of fear ripple up his back. It felt like a thousand spider legs touching his skin.

Leon frowned in that way that said he was thinking, then he rolled his eyes. “You idiot. I’d smack you if I didn’t think it would take your head off.”

“What did I do now?”

“What do you think this is? That I’ll rape you or something? Don’t flatter yourself, this is for one thing and one thing only.”

Will looked away from him, a little bit of that anger he’d felt rising back up to the surface.
