STORY EXCERPT

“Garrett?”

“That’s right, darlin’.” He smiled that wicked, devastating grin that had always been her downfall, his deep Southern drawl enough to melt any woman’s panties, and he certainly had hers, many times. Just as she always remembered him, he had a smudge of motor oil across his forehead and along his chin. He always got the stuff all over himself. Which only made him look sexier.

He took a step closer to her, invading her space. His spicy, familiar scent of motor oil and aftershave swirled around her, and her heart sped up a bit. She knew she should step away, run, flee. Anything to escape Garrett and the emotions he’d stir up in her. But she couldn’t move. Her feet were frozen to the cement auto shop floor.

He traced a knuckle down her cheek, her skin tingling beneath his touch. “It’s been too long, sweetheart.” His thumb smoothed over her bottom lip, his eyes focused down on her mouth. “I’ve missed you.”

As if his words broke some kind of spell over her, Giselle stepped back, severing the connection of their bodies.

Her head swam and her heartbeat sped up. How could this be? How could Garrett be here? After all these years. After all this time. Why would he come back now? Today of all days.

“What are you doing here, Garrett?” She crossed her arms over her chest, using the small gesture as another barrier between their bodies.

He smiled. “I’m getting ready for my first class. What are you doing here?” He cocked an eyebrow at her, but the smile on his face remained.

“You’re the new shop teacher?” Giselle focused on breathing, when he nodded in return. The reality of it slammed into her like a ton of bricks. She’d have to see him every day, walking through the halls, talking to the kids, working on the cars in this shop. He’d come into the teacher’s lounge with dirt under his fingernails and grease on his face. Leaving her in a permanent state of confusion.

“Garrett, what are you doing here? Why did you get a job at my school?” She took another step back, trying her best to appear casual, and not like she was running away. Which, of course, she wasn’t. But being close to Garrett had always been confusing. That’s how she’d gotten into the trouble before. That’s how she’d allowed him to push past her defenses.

“My daddy passed a few months ago.” He looked down, pushing his hands into his pockets. The sadness in the small gestures was apparent. Garrett loved his father. They’d been very close, even when they lived hours apart.

“I’m sorry to hear that. Hayden was a great man.”

Garrett nodded. He looked up at her. His sad eyes staring right into hers, pulling at her heart so hard it was difficult to breathe. The urge to walk up to him and wrap her arms around his neck, to pull him close, to do anything to erase the sadness in his eyes, battled through her system.

Damn it! She hated that! She didn’t want to feel any more emotion for this man. She certainly didn’t want to feel bad for him. He was the one that tricked her, the one that broke his promises and left her to pick up the mess.

“I made him a promise,” Garrett continued, unaware of her internal struggles, “on his deathbed that I’d go after the girl I’d been pining for all these years.” He took a step closer, filling in the distance between them in one long stride.

Giselle took a deep breath, her knees knocking together. The urge to flee filled her, but she fought it back. She wouldn’t run from him like a scared rabbit. Not this time. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

“I never stopped thinking about you, Dixie.” He extended one finger to smooth across her cheek. Heat flared beneath his touch and the desire to melt into him, like two metals fused by his welder, flamed inside her.

He stepped closer, until their bodies just brushed against each other. His warmth called to a place deep inside her. “I never stopped loving you, Dixie. All these years.”

His rich, chocolate eyes focused on her, warm and sweet. Those eyes had always been her undoing. One look from him and she’d forgive everything.

“I’ve come back for you, baby. And this time I’m not leaving without a fight.”

ADULT EXCERPT

Giselle fought for breath as Garrett sucked on her nipples, her entire body shaking against him. She shouldn’t be doing this. She should walk away. This wouldn’t end well, but with his hands on her, she couldn’t find the strength to even shift from his touch.

What was wrong with having one great night together? They were both adults. And God knows, they still had the passion and chemistry. Neither of them was entering into this under a false pretense. She hadn’t lied to Garrett. She’d been clear with him. They had no future together.

His hard groin knocked against her, and her body quivered. What little ray of logic she might have possessed before vanished. Her pussy clutched and dampened. Nothing mattered beyond fulfilling the need aching inside her. Whether it gave him the wrong impression, she didn’t care anymore. She’d deal with that later.

“Do you have a condom?” she whispered, threading her fingers through his hair and sucking on his neck.

“Yes,” he moaned, shifting her forward and fumbling in his pants pocket. He pulled out his wallet, his shaky fingers searching through the folds. “Here it is.” He displayed the foil packet triumphantly, and she completely agreed.

She’d never been more thankful for a man’s planning before. She hated to think what she would have done if his pockets had been empty. Leaving this car without having Garrett inside her wasn’t an option right now.

She pressed her lips to his, plunging her tongue into his mouth. He moaned, pulling her closer until his chest rubbed against her nipples. The heat in her stomach multiplied, circulating out to her fingers and toes, a special spot of heat flaring in her pussy.

She slipped her hands between them, finding his fly. She worked hard to push the button through its hole without ripping it off his pants in her haste. Between her fumbling fingers, her cloudy mind, and her desperate need, it was a much harder task than she anticipated.

His lips slipped down her throat, sucking on her pulse point. The small button gave way beneath her fingertips. The zipper easily slid down, leaving nothing between the two of them. “Thank God,” she whispered in pained relief, and Garrett chuckled beside her. No doubt thinking the same thing.

She grabbed the package from his fingers, ripping the wrapper with a quick twist and removing the treasure inside. His hands roamed her back as she did so, awaking every nerve in her body.

Sliding her hands into his pants, she found his cock. It was just as hard, long, and thick as she remembered. The sensation of his steel dick in her hands revved her body even higher, and her pussy gushed.

He moaned at her touch, thrusting his hips up to meet her hold. “You have the best hands, sweetheart. I’ve missed those hands on me.”

“Really?” She smiled, squeezing him, loving how he moaned at her touch. His thighs quivered, and she slid her fingers up and down his length. She’d missed this. Not just his above average cock—though she’d missed that, too, especially on long, lonely nights—but also the intimacy of skin-to-skin contact, and his pleasure-drawled words. No one else ever made her feel so sexy and desired as Garrett did. If only he made her feel secure and safe, too, they’d still be together.

“Of course, Dixie.” His eyes opened, meeting hers. “Everything you do to me is amazing. No one else has ever made me as crazy as you do.” He tucked her hair behind her ear to better meet her gaze. “In bed or anywhere else.”

She looked down, avoiding his stare. She couldn’t think about that, not right now. If she did, she’d probably run out of this car screaming. She didn’t want that. She needed this. She needed him. At least for right now.

She carefully rolled the condom down his cock, watching his face as she did so. He threw his head back and closed his eyes, his jaw clenched tight. His pleasure-filled expression curled her insides. She always loved that. His expressive face, his naughty, encouraging words. It all felt so natural, so normal, so right.

Pushing aside the emotion—she’d deal with it later—she rose up and straddled his lap. Her whole body shook with the fire running through her blood. Her pussy throbbed, her clit aching to be touched. That’s what mattered right now. Nothing else.

Garrett’s eyes rose to meet hers. His gaze molten. She shivered when he focused on her. His hand reached up between them to slide the crotch of her panties aside. “Are you wet for me, Dixie?”

Using his hard erection, he rubbed the thick head along her weeping slit, drawing a moan from her and a resounding groan from him. “You are, baby. You’re dripping.” The satisfaction in his tone almost made her moan again. How could he do that to her? With only words?

He rubbed his cock against her slick pussy lips, and her entire body shuddered. His other arm wrapped around her waist, offering her support as every muscle in her body trembled. “Is this, all this sweetness, for me?”

As much as she wanted to deny him, to give him yet another reason they wouldn’t be good together, she couldn’t do that. Her brain was too scattered, too Garrett-consumed, to lie to him. She gripped his shoulders, needing the support not to melt into a puddle right there in the car, and nodded.

The look of pure male triumph on his face almost took her breath away. Her heartbeat sped up a bit more. “Good,” he replied. And with one motion, he pushed his cock into her, filling her completely.
