[Siren Everlasting Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Futuristic Sci-Fi/Paranormal Romance, M/M, HEA]
After a hard mission in the wilds, Brooklyn Tanner is finally ready to pursue his longtime crush. However, ever since Daniel kissed him he's avoided Brook like he’s the plague. A little matchmaking by Brook’s parents might bring them into contact again, but it will take all of Brook's considerable charms to convince Daniel that he wants forever with him.
Daniel McCarthy has been in love with Brook since they were kids, but he is everything Brooklyn isn’t. He's short, chubby, and the most adventurous thing he does in life is pick out something new from a takeout menu. Little does he know that Brook is far more persistent than he gave him credit for.
As their courtship heats up and they finally begin the relationship they've both always wanted, life once again throws them a curve ball with zombie-filled training yards, secret government facilities, and a new level of infection that neither of them may survive.

I can honestly say that I reread this series more than any other series I enjoy and each book keeps getting better and better!!

As with Relay For Life (Deadzone 2), this book continues to build on the information we've been given in the previous two books. Ms Downs has me begging for more already. There is so much she's shown us in this book about the Special Ops but only a little peak into their lives. Enough to make me beg her for the next one. I can't wait to see what she reveals next.

As always the more intense and frightening their world becomes, it never deters from the main reason I read Jana's books. The love between her characters is always intense and volcanic. Brook and Daniel's romance has been simmering for years and when it boils over...WOW.

Her characters are as layered as her stories and they can only reach their happily ever after by relying on each other. I know I said this last time but this book is ever better again. I'm already counting the day's until Deadzone 4 comes out.

Brook cursed as he tried to reach for the cup of water the nurses had brought him and failed miserably. Of course they put it on the side of the bed with his broken fucking arm. He glared at the call button on his bed. They’d probably take forever getting here unless he unplugged his heart monitor again. Fuckers.

He resented his dads for sticking him in an overnight suite “just in case.” He was fine. They’d already set his arm, stitched his cheek, and cleared him to leave. There was no reason why he should be stuck hooked up to an IV until morning. Just because the mission had gone south and he’d sustained a few injuries didn’t mean they could lock him up in a hospital.

A soft knock on the door interrupted his internal tirade against his fathers, the hospital staff, and the uncomfortable bed.

“Come in!” he yelled. If it was that snotty nurse what’s-his-name he was going to give him a piece of his mind. He probably set the tray on his right side on purpose.

The know-it-all nurse wasn’t the one to open the door. Brook’s heart skipped a beat when Daniel came through the door carrying orange flowers of some kind. “Hi,” Daniel greeted, shifting nervously from foot to foot. “I thought you could use some company.”

He’d known Daniel McCarthy since he was an elementary school kid and had liked him just as long. He was a sweet guy, a cherub as Andrew Ainsley had aptly named him. With a cute round face and a round little bubble butt, Daniel was a wet dream walking.

“If it’s your company, I definitely could,” Brook said, giving Daniel his best come-hither smile.

Daniel was always so nervous when they were together, like he couldn’t believe Brook would have any interest in him whatsoever. He was so incredibly wrong it wasn’t even humorous. He’d give his left nut for a naked tango with Daniel. However, he couldn’t figure out a way to get him to realize that. The last time Brook had invited him over for drinks, the guy had cancelled on him.

Daniel gave him a shaky smile. “Cool.” He lifted up the orange blossoms. “Flowers. Uh, the gift shop said these shouldn’t bother your allergies.”

Brook nodded. “They’re good-looking flowers from a good-looking guy.” He winked as Daniel’s face caught on fire. You’re so damn cute. “I appreciate you taking my allergies into account.”

“N–No problem.” Daniel busied himself with arranging the flowers in the vase by the sink, and silence descended, the only thing between them were the things left unsaid.

“You really saved my ass on mission. If I hadn’t had your eyes, I don’t know if we would’ve made it.” Brook wasn’t exaggerating in the least bit. The retrieval mission of the Deadzone sponsored runner, Andrew Ainsley, had gone wrong almost from the start. Daniel’s navigation around zombie hoards had been necessary for Brook’s survival.

“I’m sure you would’ve been okay without me,” Daniel mumbled, walking over to the table and picking up his water before offering it and a straw for Brook to drink. He always underestimated his worth. The man was priceless.

Brook took a grateful sip of his drink. “I wouldn’t have,” he said when he finished.

“Um, Brook?”

“I’m sorry I stood you up for drinks at your place.”

Brook’s eyebrows crept higher. “Me, too.” Where was this going?

Without warning, Daniel leaned forward and kissed him. Brook groaned and immediately opened his mouth to deepen the kiss, welcoming the tentative touch of Daniel’s tongue. With his good hand, Brook reached up and threaded his hand through Daniel’s mop of light-brown hair. His pretty gray eyes were at half-mast as their kiss stretched on, but Brook recognized the heat in them.

“I was so scared you were going to die before I could do that,” Daniel whispered against their joined lips.

Brook licked Daniel’s bottom lip. “You can kiss me anytime you want, Daniel. Any. Fucking. Time.” Tomorrow he and Daniel were going to go on a real date. He was done trying to be subtle. He sucked at it anyway.

Daniel jerked back suddenly. “Oh my God. I didn’t come in here for that.” His face was twelve shades of red. “I’m so sorry. You’re recovering. I’ll, uh, I gotta go.”

He whipped around so quickly that Brook was pretty sure that Daniel would give himself whiplash.

“Wait! We’re not done here,” Brook said, desperation clawing its way into his chest. He didn’t want Daniel to run away again. “I want to be with you.”

Daniel paused, turned. “What could someone like you ever want with someone like me?” he asked, sounding completely bewildered.

“You’re kidding right? Daniel, you’re so fucking hot. I think about you all the time.” Well, that sounded shallow as fuck. “I mean, you’re really cool, too. I just want to date you.” Wow, I trip over my tongue extraordinarily.

“You don’t have to make fun of me,” Daniel whispered, looking hurt. “You don’t have to tell me I’m hot if you want sex. You could have anyone.”

Brook blinked. Were we even having the same conversation?

“I’m not. I really like you.”

Daniel shook his head, denying it. “Stop it, Brooklyn. It isn’t nice.”

Brook snorted. “What are we, six? Get over here and talk to me properly.”

“I can’t.”

The man practically ran from the room. Brook stared at his retreating back completely confused. How had everything gotten fucked up so quickly over a damn kiss?

Daniel whimpered and obeyed, jerking his dick with a desperate motion, his eyes wild. His toes curled as their eyes locked and cum fountained over his pistoning fist. His moan of completion was cut short as he bit into his bottom lip.

Brook groaned. “God, look at you, sexy boy. You make me so hard I could fuck through solid wood.” He climbed onto the bed, snagging a tissue from the tissue box on the nightstand.

Daniel squeezed his eyes shut. “I’m sorry.” He jumped as Brook mopped him up a bit.

“No way. I’m flattered. Want me bad, huh?” Sentences were hard when he was this turned on but he somehow managed.

Daniel nodded, not opening his eyes.

Brook pinched his naked thigh. “I want your eyes, babe.”

Slowly, Daniel opened up. “Why?”

“Because I want you to see how much I want you.” Brook took Daniel’s hand and brought it to his hard cock. His lover’s fist tightened, eliciting a sound of want. “That’s it, babe. My body is all yours. You can explore all you want.”

“You’re gorgeous,” Daniel panted, running his other hand down Brook’s chest.

Brook resisted the urge to preen but barely. He’d never been prouder of his body than he was when Daniel was staring at him like he was a Greek god come to life.

He stayed still, submitting to Daniel’s touch even though his body screamed at him for more stimulation. He tossed the soiled tissue to the floor. He nearly swallowed his tongue as Daniel stroked him in earnest. He wanted to come buried in Daniel’s soft body, needed it.

Reaching down and putting a restraining hand on Daniel’s wrist, he shot him an apologetic smile. “Won’t last if you do that, babe. I want to be naked and inside you if we’re going to do this properly. I’ve waited too long for this to have it be over so quickly.”

“You still want to do me?”

“More than anything.” He didn’t know how else to show his sincerity. If Daniel didn’t believe his pre-cum dripping cock he wasn’t going to believe anything.

Daniel smiled. “Okay. Under the covers then.”

He laughed, he couldn’t help it. Though he knew that this was the “traditional” position, he’d never done it this way. Quirky, like his Daniel. Brook had no qualms in saying that he found different very, very attractive.

They shuffled a little bit to get under the covers, and Brook had a nice chuckle over finding Daniel’s ticklish spots as they rolled underneath the satin sheets. He reclaimed his beautiful boy’s lips, kissing him breathless all over again. When he reached for the hem of Daniel’s shirt, he let Brook pull it free.

Brook kissed down his neck, nibbling his collarbone as he went. Daniel shifted, allowing him greater access. Brook traced his curves first with hands and then with his tongue. Daniel wasn’t ripped like the other agents he saw regularly in the shower. He was soft and padded in all the right places.

“Brook!” Daniel gasped as Brook reached the pebbled peaks of his nipples.

Oh someone was sensitive. He nibbled a little harder, making Daniel groan. He switched to the other nipple and sucked. Daniel’s dick stirred against him again, and he gave a dark chuckle of satisfaction. Daniel’s reaction to him could make Brook really arrogant, really quickly.

He trailed his fingers over his slightly rounded stomach. His skin was incredibly soft.

“Hm, lube and condom gel are on the nightstand,” Daniel hinted not so subtly.

“Not yet. I’m exploring.”

Daniel huffed, but Brook didn’t think he was really complaining.

As his tongue passed over Daniel’s stomach, the hint of Daniel’s release saturated his senses. He licked harder, looking for another taste. The lovely little happy trail, the same light-brown as Daniel’s hair, provided a path for him to follow.

“No! Oh God!” Daniel yelped, threading his hands through Brook’s short hair. “Brook, you don’t have—”

“I want to,” Brook murmured against his flesh. “Though if you hand me the lube, I’d be a very grateful man.”

It took some fumbling on Daniel’s part, but he managed to grab the bottle and hand it over while Brook finished kissing his way down to the already rigid length Daniel was sporting. He wrapped his lips around Daniel’s cock with a growl of satisfaction, shouldering his way between Daniel’s spread thighs for a more comfortable position.

It was hot under the sheets, but as much as he wanted to throw them off and see Daniel in his full glory, he left the covers on for Daniel’s sake. He wanted his lover to enjoy every second of this.

Brook stretched him slowly, widening his passage with carefully lubed fingers. More pre-cum poured over his tongue as he sank one finger deep into Daniel’s hole, and the whimper that issued from Daniel’s throat urged him on. He bobbed his head, his own cock so hard he was pretty sure that when Daniel touched him he was going to lose his mind.

“Brook, please!” Daniel’s plea didn’t fall on deaf ears. Brook fingered him one last time, making sure Daniel wouldn’t be hurt in the process, and then pulled his fingers free.

He surged up Daniel’s prone body, his cock tightening at the promise of gratification. He reached for the condom gel and wasted no time in smoothing it over his dick. Almost instantly it solidified into a protective sheath.

“Want you really bad, Danny boy,” Brook admitted, spreading his lover’s thighs slightly wider.

“Need you,” Daniel whispered in return.
