I enjoyed this a lot. I thought the characters were fun and engaging and I would happily have spent more time with them. I'm looking forward to further entries in the series.

This was a great coming out story. It was very hot and very sweet at the same time. It reminded me a lot of my own college experience in terms of the environment and the common characters found at college. Definately a good read.

5 BEACONS: "Peter Cohen is out of the closet and accepting of his sexuality and gay life style. Chris Fischer is a soccer jock whose hetero-sexuality has never been in question until he meets Peter. An overnight camping trip, coupled with Chris’s assignment to a new door room with Peter on the other side of a thin wall, once back on campus, changes everything. Late night talks change into emotional longing and sexual tension neither man can ignore. They each quickly have their heart on the line, but is a happily ever after in their future? COLLEGE BOYS isn’t an over the top collegial romp of a story with lots of wild sex and gratuitous events that are supposed to pass as a plot. Don’t get me wrong. This story does have some intense, hot and, I think, honestly portrayed sex. But more than that, COLLEGE BOYS is a charming and engaging story of self-discovery and that passionate, toe curling, yet frightening first love I hope I never forget. I loved the characters of Peter and Chris. They were real to me and quite frankly remind me of friends I knew in college. This story could be their lives. The angst and passion that the author gives Peter and Chris in this story is spot on. The caring and tenderness that Peter displays as he guides Chris through his first sexual experiences with another man were endearing. There is no doubt in my mind these events could occur in reality. Beyond the sexuality of the story, the two main characters and one supporting character, Nathaniel, where wonderfully drawn. To say this story hits home with me would not be saying enough. These aren’t just characters on a page, they are real people I know. COLLEGE BOYS is well written. The characters will tug at your heart; and the secondary characters, Nathaniel and Greg, will make you laugh and also peak your interest. I’ll be honest. When I read the title,COLLEGE BOYS, this story is not what I expected – at all. I expected a light weight, frilly tale. I was pleasantly and delightfully surprised. This first entry in Ms. Holsum’s series has passion, humor and emotional depth. I can’t wait to read the next installment. Ms. Holsum… A+" -- Dark Haven Maven, Dark Haven Book Reviews

4.5 KISSES: "This has been a hard year for Chris Fischer. He is a popular soccer jock that is having a difficult time coming to terms with his mother recently passing away. Because of the stress and grief this has given him, he has a hard time concentrating on his studies in his shared dorm room. Unable to concentrate, he puts in a request for a single room and is both horrified and intrigued when he finds out his next door neighbor is the very out and sexy, Peter Cohen. Chris has been interested in Peter since they both attended a camping trip last year, but is confused by the attraction he feels for the interesting man. Since the walls that separate their rooms are paper thin, both Chris and Peter hear everything the other person is doing and the more Chris listens to whatever Peter is doing in his room, the more captivated he becomes of him. Because Chris is unable to keep away from Peter, a hesitant friendship develops between them that soon turn into a heated attraction that neither man will deny. But, Chris is confused by these budding feelings and the physical temptation they have between them and isn’t sure if he should act on it. There are members of his soccer team that does not tolerate homosexuality and Chris is soon forced to make a decision that will change his life forever. I really liked this book a lot. It has a very fast-paced storyline that kept me interested and fascinated by both of the main characters. Both men are prepared for the sudden intense feelings they have for one another, and I enjoyed watching their relationship develop as the story progressed. At first glance, both Chris and Peter give the impression of being almost totally opposite of one another, but as they got to know each another, they found they had a lot more in common than either man realized they had. As the story progresses, both Peter and Chris go through a lot of soul searching and make some major changes in their lives. Chris in particular has had such a hard year, there are times he isn’t the nicest guy in the world, and he does a few things to Peter that I didn’t care for. But, in the end I did understand the inner conflict he’s going through. His life is changing and isn’t going as Chris once thought it would go, so he has to deal with a lot of issues. I thought this author did an excellent job showing the inner conflict and confusion that both Chris and Peter go through, and once they come to the conclusion they belong together, I enjoyed watching them fight to have something meaningful between them. Since College Boys is the first book in the ‘Men of Holsum College’ series, I’m looking forward to reading more about these intriguing and well-written characters. Ms. Harris has a straightforward, easy style of writing that I enjoyed and I’m anxious to read more stories written by her." -- Gabbi, Top 2 Bottom Reviews

4.5 DELIGHTFUL DIVAS: "This book was suggested to me by a friend, but since I am used to reading Siren Bookstrand to get my shifter fix, I wasn’t sure how that publisher would do on a traditional coming-of-age story. But College Boys was a delightful surprise to me. A contemporary novel about two guys in college, who live next to each other in the dorm. As they start hanging out together, Chris and Peter’s attraction builds, but since Chris has always thought he was straight, how will these two young men resolve the issue? What I loved about College Boys was the slow build-up to Chris’ revelation that he might not be as straight as he thought. The relationship from friends to lovers is not rushed, and the author took her time in developing this wonderful Gay For You plot. Out of all the GFY stories I have read over the years, this one felt the most realistic. Plus, the hot sex scenes the guys shared together and solo added to the charming romantic nature of this book. Truly a sublime read that makes me want more in this series. Ms. Harris took a trope I love and in my estimation turned it into gold. From now on she goes on my auto-buy list. Recommended." -- Lasha, Dark Divas Reviews

4.25 STARS: "Chris's mother died and as much as he likes his friends he needs to just be alone. He moves into a single room that's the size of a closet and then finds out that it used to be a double room that just had a wall erected in the middle of it. They didn't spend a whole lot of money when they did this and subsequently the wall is paper thin and you can hear everything from the room next door. The guy who now lives next to Chris is Peter – an gay guy that Chris had met at orientation. They had “roomed” together during that orientation (which was in a tent) and the two had migrated together while sleeping. Chris was embarrassed but Peter got a crush that just wouldn't quit. Peter is thrilled that Chris has moved next door except that since his crush is closer than he ever hoped he can't seem to get any sleep because of his constant hard on. Because of the thin walls Chris and Peter start talking and become friends. But Chris finds himself liking Peter way more than he thought he would and when push comes to shove Chris discovers that maybe he's not as straight as he thought he was. I just love stories that are either gay for you or guys discovering for the first time that they ARE gay. There's something about the discovery of their feelings that just gets me almost every time and this was one of those stories. Chris and Peter have their friendship first and I really loved that about the story. They were comfortable with each other and it wasn't just about sex. Chris dealt with his budding feelings quite well. At first I thought that he was going to have more issue with it all and he did have a bit of a freak out but really he was open about it all and it really worked for the book. The story is sweet and funny and definitely sexy and one I would more than recommend. I can't wait to read more about the Men of Holsum College." -- Tracy's Place

Soon Chris must choose whether to run away from his new feelings or embrace a relationship with the guy he loves. And Peter must decide if he can give his heart to a guy who hasn’t yet figured it all out. Peter’s favorite night time fantasy moves next door, his name is Chris, but unfortunately for Peter, Chris is straight. Chris is sure he straight, he’s also sure it’s perfectly normal to get aroused hearing his gay neighbor masturbate through their shared wall, he’s also sure it’s perfectly normal to wonder what Peter might look like without his pants on.Chris has less trouble coming to terms with his sexuality and worries more about what his soccer playing buddies might think. Peter worries if being with Chris will equal being shoved back into the closet and if his feelings are stronger than Chris’s are. I can tell from book 1 this is going to become my new favorite M/M series. The main characters are regular guys going to college, friends who start dating then fall in love. College Boys is a contemporary romance, I think that’s what adds to me liking it so much. There’s no added unnecessary drama, when Chris realizes he wants to really start something with Peter, yes he’s nervous, but he doesn’t go and run from his feelings, he faces their attraction head on. The boy’s relationship builds from their friendship and comes across as very real. The story is a perfect mixture of hot passions and sweet companionship." -- Charnel Chante, Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

4 STARS: "What to say except that this was close to perfection. Daisy Harris knows her way around a romance, and creating sexual tension for her seems as easy as breathing. Chris is a college student who has just lost his mother and in his need to have some time alone, to grieve in peace, he leaves his roommates and moves to the other side of campus into a single room. What he didn't know when he first accepted the room was that it was separated from the one next door by a wall as thick as cardboard. Peter's had a thing for Chris from the beginning of the year when they shared a tent on a camping trip and Chris got a bit too close during the night. But Chris is straight, always has been and had made it pretty clear to Peter. So when they start jerking off together, spurred on by the easily heard sounds from one another through the thin wall, things turn to awkward filled with possibilities. This book was exactly what I was looking for. From the easy writing style to the perfect dose of romance. Chris seemed somewhat naïve but genuinely a good person and it's pretty much impossible not to like him. Peter was just the right guy to get Chris into the ‘gay waters'. He was patient and controlled enough not to make stupid mistakes. I really loved this couple and am on a look out for more Daisy Harris books, she can charm me with her vision of a perfect couple anytime." -- Valentina Heart, The Romance Reviews

4 ANGELS: "Chris Fischer needs a break from the noise and the in-your-face members of his soccer team members, so he requests a dorm change. After his mother's death, his team members kept dragging him to parties, even when he didn't want to go. Chris already knows his neighbor Peter from the time they shared a tent during a pre-college camping trip when he woke up holding Peter and very aroused, but he couldn't be gay, could he? Peter has always had a thing for Chris, but he doesn't want to get involved with a guy who says he is heterosexual. Peter intervenes one night when he hears Chris sniffling, giving him the friendship and support he needs without invading his space. The two start to spend time together and Chris's feelings for Peter make him question everything that he has accepted about himself. Chris needs to decide if his feelings for Peter are strong enough to overcome the difficulties that lie ahead. The conflict Chris undergoes is one that many people encounter when they realize they are gay. Will their friends accept them if they come out? Will they lose everything and everyone they hold dear? Chris's choice was a difficult on many levels and they didn't even go into what could happen when he came out to his family. From a brief scene, the reader was told that things with the soccer team didn't go well, but it was never elaborated on, leaving the reader to make their own conclusion without any resolution. The interactions between Chris and Peter in private were creative, but very limited with them in the community. Relationships can be made or destroyed by the way others see them, unless they are willing to trust in their love for each other. On the whole, I enjoyed experiencing Chris and Peter's lives as they unfolded." -- Teresa, Fallen Angel Reviews

Best_Book_star_rating_80%20copy.jpgBEST BOOK: "The last thing Peter wanted was to be forced back in the closet, even if it was for the sexiest jock on campus. Chris may have seen himself as straight, but it was clear to Peter that he was not as straight as he would like others to believe. The question is, was he trying to deceive others, or was he deceiving himself? Peter seems like the kind of person anyone would love to be around whether they are straight, gay or in between. Some people just have a personality that draws others to them like a magnet. This magnetism made the character realistic to this reader. I could picture him sitting on the bed discussing everyday life with me the same way he did with his BFF Nathaniel. This aspect is what immediately drew me into the story and helped to keep my interest throughout. Chris on the other hand was your typical self-conscious college kid trying to find himself. Personal loss made this search even more critical. Going to college away from home is tough enough, but dealing with the death of a loved one made this more tense. I think Chris’s story of self-discovery is inspirational to anyone whether they be straight or gay; male, or female. I could not help but be awed by how accepting he seemed to be of everything. Whether it be the fact that he was friends with a gay man, or that he started to have a tingly feeling every time he thought about Peter. He seemed to take everything in stride and just go with what felt right to him. It's been a while since I read a story that I knew the characters would stick with me, and this is one of those stories. I have no doubt that Chris and Peter will be replaying their story in my head for at least the next week. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves inspiring story lines and characters." -- Peppermint, Long and Short Reviews

STORY EXCERPT

Chris blinked open his eyes, wondering for a second what had woken him up. But then a creak of bedsprings carried through the wall from Peter’s room. The music was on, too. Nothing loud—just the kind of quiet trance music Peter played at night that acted more like white noise than anything else.

He was just about to open his mouth to say hi when he heard a low and guttural male groan. Chris’s entire body tensed—all the way from his toes, over the tip of his cock, to where his nipples rubbed against his frayed flannel sheets. He’d been sleeping on his stomach, and he feared rolling over and letting Peter and whatever guy he’d brought home realize Chris was awake.

Another moan carried through the wall, followed by a growled, “Yeah. Fuck, yeah.” Chris couldn’t tell if it was the same guy who’d moaned or if it was Peter talking. He’d never heard Peter sound like that—rough and low and horny. But Chris supposed that was what Peter might sound like if he was…

Chris’s mind went blank. Getting fucked in the ass? Fucking someone in the ass? His brain had no images to connect to those concepts, though he’d heard guys snicker about it behind their hands.

A quiet moan and the words suck it carried through the wall, followed by a rapid-fire squeaking like Peter’s bed was bouncing off its hinges. Chris bit his lip to stop from moaning himself. His dick was a steel pipe trapped between his belly and the mattress. He fed his hand down, conscious of the whisper of his knuckles through his sheets. When he palmed his erection, he pressed hard enough to see stars.

The groans from Peter’s room rose, getting more desperate, but they were slow and languorous. It didn’t match the near-constant jerking noise of Peter’s bed, so it was hard for Chris to picture exactly what was going on. He’d only had sex a couple times, but it seemed that the moans usually matched tempo with the thrusting.

Another noise, louder and more breathless, carried from the other room, and this time it was unmistakably Peter. Oh God. Was he with two guys? Chris wanted the wall to become see-through. He wanted to peek through Peter’s keyhole and see every last detail, every openmouthed moan and twitching muscle. He wanted to watch Peter’s eyes screw up in pleasure and see how his body bowed when he was about to come.

He strained his hips into his hand, struggling to keep the bed from shaking, the springs from rattling. The constant squeak-squeak-squeak of Peter’s bed was loud enough that Chris thought maybe he could risk moving. He pressed his cock through his cupped fist, so slowly his eyes rolled back in his head. Holding his breath, he pulled back, but the loss of pressure was enough to squeeze his nuts in a vise, and he speared into that palm again, not caring when the frame beneath him groaned.

Fuck. He couldn’t resist another pump. Just one more and he might be able to come. Tucking his hips up off the mattress, he propped up on his elbow. Then, when a gasp from next door was so loud and desperate that Chris thought he might pass out from not shooting, Chris pumped his cock through his hand so fast that his bed let out a long squeal. But Chris didn’t care because he was thrusting hot and fast into that tight grip, and he imagined Peter shaking below him. Next door, Peter’s bed was bouncing to the jerk of his hips and it was so good Chris felt blind with the pleasure.

His balls twisted close to his body, sending spears of heat up his back. Chris arched into his fist and felt his cock pulse right before he shot, wet and sloppy, onto his sheets. He froze and held his body off the bed. Chris listened hard for whether Peter or one of his friends had heard, but the room next door had gone curiously quiet.

ADULT EXCERPT

“Sh…S’okay.” Peter knew this kind of thing rarely worked out well the first time guys tried. So, picking up where they’d left off, he wrapped his hand around to Chris’s half-hard cock, giving it a loving pull. “Hey, I hear it’s great once you have a little practice.”

He craned his neck to kiss Chris’s cheek and was surprised to taste wetness. “Oh, baby. I’m sorry…” Peter was too horny to stop thrusting into Chris’s back. “Sorry if I hurt you.”

Chris cocked his head around to give Peter a kiss. “It’s not your fault it hurt.” With a fortifying inhale, Chris pumped his cock through Peter’s fist. This time it was fully hard.

Peter ground back, his chest expanding that Chris was okay. More than okay, Chris was shimmying and grinding, working his ass in rough circles. So much so that Peter had an idea. “Here.” He turned onto his side, pulling Chris with him so they were spooning. Then Peter settled lower and repositioned his cock at Chris’s entrance.

“Um…I don’t know.”

“You don’t have to do anything.” Peter ran his hand—still slippery from lube—over Chris’s erection, twisting at the cap. He didn’t thrust or push, just kept Chris balanced with his hole poised on Peter’s tip. “Just don’t come yet.”

Nervously, Chris nodded. But on the next stroke of Peter’s hand, he relaxed. That shift of muscles worked him a tiny bit lower, just enough so Peter felt the open kiss of him on his cap.

“Fuck, you’re killing me,” Chris said a second time, making Peter grin to his ears. Even if he couldn’t fuck Chris that night, he didn’t care. This was too awesome, watching Chris fall apart all sloppy and horny with his ass slowly working lower.

Chris’s cock flexed, and Peter gripped hard around the base, making sure Chris didn’t go over. “Just a little more, baby.” While Chris mewled and whimpered, Peter pressed a centimeter deeper, so he could feel Chris’s ring of muscle stretch.

“Fuck, I…”

He felt the moment Chris gave in, the breath where Chris melted into his arms. It was then that Peter pumped the smallest thrust upward and then felt the twisting ecstasy of Chris’s body sucking him inside.

The sound Chris made was a strangled howl, not like anything Peter had ever heard from a human. His entire body was limp except for his dick, which pulsed like it was about to explode in Peter’s grip.

“Please…” Chris whispered. “God, it’s too much. Gotta come…”

Peter wanted to give in, make it all about Chris. But some tiny impulse told him it would be better, for both of them, if Peter pushed a little more. “In a second, baby. Just three strokes, okay?”

Chris sounded like he was about to cry when he said, “Okay.” He bent his head, shuddering as Peter pulled nearly all the way out, then he trembled when Peter slid in to the hilt.

“One.” Peter held deep, his length strangled in Chris’s tight ass. He wanted to come so badly—to fill the condom with spunk and stretch Chris wide with his swollen cock. But Peter knew that probably wouldn’t happen before it was more than Chris could stand, so he resigned himself to enjoying the feel of Chris’s trembling.

He tucked his hips back, pulling out of that heat in a long stroke before sheathing himself once more.
