Veterinarian Lena Windsor grew up expecting to be mated to shape-shifter Alex James and his brothers, Joe and Will, when she finished university, but when military vet Alex leaves the three of them behind to re-enlist, she builds a new life for herself, eventually coming home to take over her fathers' practice in Harmony, where she reconciles with Joe and Will.
One day, Lena begins to suspect that someone has been prowling around her house while she's at work and uses a nanny cam to find the culprit. She's shocked to see a very changed Alex, who is dealing with a severe war injury by bonding, in wolf-dog form, with the stray dog she adopted who has a similar injury.
She'd never turn away an injured animal, not even when he's also the man who broke her heart. Can she help him to heal without falling in love with him again?

5 STARS: "Call of the Wolf 2: Desired by Wolves by Diane Leyne is an excellent paranormal romance. I enjoyed reading it immensely. Call of the Wolf 2: Desired by wolves is Alex, Joe, Will and Lena’s story. I enjoyed all the characters and the storyline in Call of the Wolf 2: Desired by Wolves. The more I read by this author the more I want to read. Diane Leyne knows how to hook a reader in she never lets them go. Lena grew up knowing who she would love for the rest of her life. She was supposed to be mated with Alex, Joe and Will. She has accepted this and even loves all her future mates. When Alex leaves to serve the country she leaves to go to school. She always figured that when she was done the four of them would live out their happily ever after but that didn’t happen. Alex kept reenlisting in the armed forces. Over time she accepted the fact that she has been rejected by Alex. She still loves Joe and Will and they are tied together even if Alex isn’t. However, she refuses to be with them on a full moon. She avoids them because they can’t fully bond without Alex there because he is their Alpha. When she finds out that he is hanging out around her place she is infuriated, until she realizes that he wounded and the depth of those wounds. She realizes that he isn’t just hurt physically but that there is more to it than that. She will do anything to help him, but could she give him her heart again? Or would she continue on the way she has? Alex thought he knew what was best for Lena and his brothers. That is why he left to serve the country across seas. He didn’t want to hold Lena back. He wanted her to be able to follow her dreams, and that is something she would not have been able to do if he stayed behind. He had not counted on getting wounded, and he most certainly had not expected to go back home that way. He was avoiding everyone Lena included. He loved her but he knew there was no way that she could accept him now in his current condition. He wasn’t the Alpha he should be. He is very aware of her but he can’t face her rejection so he continues to hide. When she finds him at her house playing with her dog she sees that he is wounded. It seems, to him, that she is willing to go the extra mile to help him. Is that because she loves him? Or out of pity? He could not stand it if she pitied him. Is he willing to get past his insecurities to find out? Or will he continue to be the wounded solider he is?Joe and Will have waited long enough to mate with Lena. They have been patient, especially since Alex has been gone for so long. Now that he is back in town they are determined to make it happen. It is what is supposed to be and they have suffered long enough. They know that she loves them and that they love her. They are even sure that Alex loves her too, even if he continues to “run away” from her. They are hatching a plan to make sure they will all be one during the next full moon. When Alex begins to come out of his shell they are hopeful. They even think it is because of Lena. Will they be able to solidify their bond and be joined together as one? Or will they be disappointed once again? I could not put Call of the Wolf 2: Desired by Wolves down. Once I started I was unable to pull myself away from Alex, Joe, Will, and Lena. I really liked Alex. He was a good character because he loved Lena enough to let her do her thing. I do think that there was a little selfishness in his selflessness though. Especially once he returned. Lena was an interesting character as well. The fact that she was able to show Alex compassion even after he left her showed her character. I found Will and Joe to be enjoyable as well. I love that they were plotting to get their way. I think that all four of them worked well together. The plot was easy to follow and well written. I would highly recommend Call of the Wolf 2: Desired by Wolves to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances especially ones with hunky werewolves that know how to please." -- Sizzling Hot Books
5 STARS: "Another Sexy as hell story from Diane Leyne. I absolutely positively love Alex! I felt for him so much in this book, I cried along with him, I wanted to hug this big bad alpha who feels like half a man and scared shitless to be without his mate the rest of his life but scared also of being with her. I cannot say enough about Alex this war hero who is in excruciating pain everyday and feels so alone. Lena I love too I mean who doesn't she's awesome..she takes in a stray dog that's injured, she's a vet and she's the mate of three wolf shifter brothers but the mating was put off when Alex re enlisted. Will and Joe are sexy as hell and dying to claim their mate but they have to wait until the Alpha mans up...a lot of emotions in this book, happiness, sadness, joy and love. What a great book. This one is my fav so far and can't wait to read more.... " -- Nanee McGee, Up All Night, Read All Day...Book Reviews
5 HEARTS: "I was so excited to be asked to review Desired by Wolves, the second book in Diane Leyne’s Call of the Wolf series. I loved the first book in the series, Claimed by Wolves. It was a sweet story with a lot of humor and I was expecting more of the same in Desired by Wolves. Boy was I wrong and I’ve never been happier to be wrong. Desired by Wolves pulled at my heartstrings almost from page one. I was so moved by the story that I caught myself shedding a few tears – both in sadness and happiness. Lena and brothers, Alex, Will and Joe grew up together. Their hometown of Harmony is a community of werewolves where ménage is the norm. Lena always knew that the James brothers were her fated mates. She was willing to give up anything, including her dreams of veterinary school, to be with her men. But before they could officially mate, Alex disappeared. He didn’t want Lena to give up her dreams and he felt they were all too young to make a lifelong commitment. Alex re-enlists in the Army and disappears leaving the others to move on with their lives. Fast forward ten years later and Alex is back in Harmony. A lot has changed in that time, especially Alex. He has suffered a devastating war injury that has severely impacted his self-confidence. He believes that Lena could never love him in this condition and he is determined to keep his return a secret. But secrets always have a way of being discovered, and now Lena has to learn to forgive Alex and help him heal without losing her heart again. Desired by Wolves took me on an emotional journey with highs and lows. It broke my heart to see the emotional and mental damage that Alex suffered. I shed a few tears at seeing this once strong and confident Alpha be afraid of loud noises, suffer panic attacks, and basically become a shadow of his former life. Ms. Leyne painted such a realistic picture of a soldier suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and my mind couldn’t help but go to the thousands of our American soldiers who must be facing the same problems everyday. I was amazed at Ms. Leyne’s ability to describe Alex’s new demeanor in such a detailed way that I was just as saddened by the changes as Lena was despite never knowing the pre-war Alex. Lena was a strong heroine who was able to move on from heartbreak and follow her dreams to become a vet. It was her compassion and empathy that not only made her a great vet, but also be the perfect person to help Alex deal with his PTSD. Her loving and caring way helped heal him and I hope that our returning soldiers are lucky enough to have their own “Lena” in their lives. Lena reminded me of myself in that she loved Alex but still held onto her anger and his autocratic decision all those years ago. While I understand that Alex thought he was doing the right thing by holding off on their mating since he was going off to war and could potentially be killed, I understood Lena’s anger and frustration. It can be so frustrating when a man makes a decision that he thinks is in his woman’s best interest without consulting her. I truly appreciated that Ms. Leyne talked about the work that Alex had to do in order to deal with his PTSD. She painted a realistic picture of the steps needed to recover emotionally from such a horrific experience. Alex saw a therapist and attended a support group and opened his heart and soul to the people who loved him. Desired by Wolves was not your traditional ménage. Though Will and Joe were a part of Lena’s life, the main focus of the story was the relationship between Lena and Alex. Yet I didn’t feel anything was missing because I was engrossed in Lena and Alex’s story. Will and Joe were there to support their brother and their mate and their dedication and love was apparent even without being the main focus. That is a testament to Ms. Leyne’s strong story-telling abilities. While Desired by Wolves can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading Claimed by Wolves because it’s a great book. And once you have read both books, I believe you will become a Ms. Leyne fan like I am." -- Robin, Sizzling Hot Books
5 STARS: "Leyne is a new writer to me and I read two of her books at the same time. I seldom get books to review that are different from all the others, but I enjoyed both of these. The first showed a playful sense of humor that I liked, and that humor also showed through in this one. However, in Call of the Wolf 2—Desired by Wolves, the author tackled a modern problem, that of returning soldiers with PTSD. It is thoughtfully done, and shows what soldiers face when they return home damaged physically, emotionally or both. Lena is the town vet in Harmony, and she is in love with brothers Joe and Will. However, their Alpha, Alex who has been away in the service for ten years, has just returned, a broken man. The three want to help him so they can all be together, as a mated pack, and they can’t do that till their Alpha is made whole. I like Leyne’s take on the story, and hope to see more, but I’d like to see more editing in the way of word usage, tenses, and continuity." -- Alberta, Manic Readers
"Growing up around werewolves, Lena knows what to expect. The brothers of a family share one wife. Lena accepted it and was looking forward to it. The James brothers new Lena was the one. They also new they had to follow Alex, the alpha of the 3. Alex being the oldest at 22, in the military, thought his 18 yr old brothers and Lena were too young to make such a commitment and made the choice for them all. Alex re-inlists and breaks Lena's heart. With Alex away Lena goes back to school, becomes a vet and then returns home to the city she grew up in, knowing the James brothers are waiting for her. 2 of the brothers want her back even if it means going around their alpha. Alex wounded emotionally and physically from war and torture, doesn't think he is worthy of Lena, and hides for as long as he can. But a small dog who Lena has befriended may be the catalyst to a new start between Alex, Lena and the entire James family. What a great story. I really enjoyed the James brothers. I will tell you this book was giving to me at a time when I was really excited to read it. About 2 days later I received terrible news about family and had to put it on the back burner for a while. So at one of the saddest moments of my life, this book kept my mind occupied and gave me the distraction I truly needed. I will always be grateful. I thought the book was very well written and loved the story of Alex and Lena, the brothers just make it even hotter. Damage whether it be mental, physical, or what ever may not ever truly go away but love can over come most obstacles. If you have not picked up this series ...do pick it up. It is well worth the read. Thanks Diane for a great read and I hope you will send me more. Adults only...menage scenes are very hot!" -- Julie Ramsey, Julie's Book Review
“Damn it, Joe.” Will sat down on the couch in their office and bent over, his head in his hands. “I thought the fact that she was here on a full moon night meant something.”
“Me, too.” Joe’s tone was a bleak as Will’s own as he sat on the chair in front of the desk, leaning back and staring at the ceiling. “She never goes out on a full moon night, ever. And she never lets us come to her either. But she was here in Lupo’s, and I thought it was significant, but I guess she was just here for Samantha.”
“Yeah, she tried to tell us that when she first arrived. And she was quick to shoo us away from her table when Sam, Ginger, and Pen arrived, but, I don’t know how much longer I can take this half relationship. I want a commitment. Sure the three of us have hot sex frequently as long as it isn’t a full moon, but that’s not enough anymore. I want marriage and a family.”
“Me, too, .” Joe chuckled. “I may be turning into a woman, but I don’t want to just be used for sex anymore. We’ve been more than patient. She’s thirty-one. We’re thirty-one. None of us are getting any younger. If she won’t commit to being mated to us, then we need to move on.”
“Easier said than done. You know it’s in the blood. Deep inside, we know she’s our mate and she knows we are her mates. It’s not like she’s been seeing other men or other wolves, except, of course, as patients. And she’s free with her body when she’s with us, although that doesn’t happen as often as I’d like. She just won’t commit emotionally. She still holds part of herself separate.”
Joe and his brother looked up when the man sitting behind the desk chuckled. It was a sound without much real mirth in it. He looked a lot like them. He was tall with the same green eyes and dark hair as Will and Joe, but where their hair was shaggy and unkempt, his was militarily short and it was shot through with gray at the temples. He was older than them, too, only by four years, but he had the eyes of a man who had seen too much that made his seem much older than his years.
“Alex, ,” Will snapped. “You caused all this. If you had just let us mate her properly back when she was willing, we wouldn’t have this problem.”Will’s tone was accusing.
“The three of you were barely twenty-one. I was twenty-five and shipping overseas for god knows how long, and there was no certainty I was ever going to come back. I made the right decision. Should I make a recording and play it for you whenever you try to go over this old ground yet again?” Alex’s tone was hard and flat. He’d had this discussion with his brothers and himself many times, and he wasn’t going to budge from his position. He couldn’t budge from that position. It was hard enough as it was not being with his mate, but if he admitted that he made a mistake all those years ago, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to deal with the knowledge, so he deliberate refused to consider the possibility. He couldn’t consider the possibility.
“As it was, I didn’t come back in quite the same condition as I was when I left.” His hand went to his left leg automatically. The damage to his hip and the leg muscle was extensive. They told him he was lucky to walk again, but he wasn’t sure that it was luck, more like a punishment, to make him half the man he was and unable to either do the job he loved or be with the woman he also loved.
“Is that why you refuse to see her and just lurk in the dark like the god damned Phantom of the Opera?”
Alex could hear the irritation in Will's voice.
“You think I should be wearing a mask, little brother? I thought women liked scars?”
“Nah. You’re no uglier than you were when you left. But you have been back for a week and never leave the house in human form.” Will's voice was now more worried than irritated.
“I’m here, aren’t I?”
“Yeah, but only because you thought Lena wouldn’t be here.” Joe wasn't letting Alex off the hook.
“You told me she never went anywhere on a full moon night.” His eyes narrowed. “Was that a lie to get me here? Did you think that if I saw her again, I’d suddenly change my mind and rush out and sweep her off her feet?” He laughed again with no mirth in his tone. “You know, if I tried that, I’d end up flat on my ass. The crippled veteran making a fool of himself over a woman who would probably spit in his face.”
Alex felt his body arching up from the bed, and Lena sucked hard on his cock as if she was trying to draw the cum out of it through sheer determination. Pleasure shot through him that was almost electric in its intensity. And when she started moving her mouth up and down on him, he had to concentrate hard not to lose control and cum in her mouth after sixty seconds like some goddamned teenager.
He gritted his teeth. His first time with Lena in a decade and he wanted to cum deep inside her pussy, not her mouth. That could wait until the second, third, or fourth time he came inside her tonight.
“Please, I need to be inside you.”
“Relax and let me have my way with you.”
“Later. Please, Lena. This first time, I need to be inside you. Please, I’m begging you.” He had no pride any more. Pride had cost him ten years with the woman he loved. He’d done what he thought was best without asking her what she wanted or needed because he’d been the alpha and he believed it was his right to make the decision for them all. He’d been a fool.
He saw Lena look up at him. She had one hand wrapped around his cock. There gazes locked, and she deliberately licked the length of his cock as if it was a particularly tasty lollipop. Then she grabbed a condom that he hadn’t noticed her putting on the bed and slowly rolled it onto his cock, but not before giving it one last lick.
He lost the power of speech from the pleasure of the moment. All he could do was beg her with his eyes. Alex heaved a sigh of relief when she released his cock and moved to position herself so that she straddled him, her pussy hovering over his cock. He tried to flex his hip and push his cock up into her, but the scarves prevented him.
He growled with frustration as he continued to try to reach her with his cock.
“You’re not going to shift on me, are you?” Lena teased. “Because if you do, I’m out of here. I don’t do interspecies love.”
And then he saw her expression change. It turned serious as she reached between her legs and gripped his cock, guiding it as she slowly lowered her body onto him, not stopping until he was fully embedded inside her warm, tight pussy.
It was like he was finally where he was supposed to be. He leaned back and let the sensation wash over him and threw him. He felt more at peace than he had in years.
“No incipient panic attack?”
He paused to think about it. Nope. Nothing. Usually he could feel the pressure build long before they hit, but the only pressure building inside him now was in his cock. Was sex with Lena the secret to staying calm?
“Not even a twinge. Just the feeling of bliss at being inside you again. But I do have to warn you of something.” He deliberately made his expression solemn.
“I feel it only fair that I warn you that once you start to move, I’m going to last about sixty seconds max before I explode.”
“Baby, I wanted to do better our first time. I had the whole thing choreographed in my head, and it didn’t include shooting my load before getting you off.”
“Well, if you do that, then I guess I’m just going to have to suck you hard and try again, and if you don’t last the second time, we’ll just have to keep repeating the process until I get to ride you long and hard enough to come myself.”
Alex felt like his eyeballs were going to roll back in his head as he exploded inside her just from her words. Damn it. She hadn’t even moved. He groaned in frustration as he saw her laughing at him, and then he laughed, too.
He stopped laughing when she leaned forward and slid up his body and off his cock. He felt her breasts and her hard pointed nipples pressing into his chest and she pulled herself up so that right boob was level with his mouth. Eagerly, he latched on, suckling strongly. It tasted like heaven. All too soon she pulled it out of his mouth, but that was okay because she leaned the other way and offered him her left breast. He worshiped this one, too, with his lips and tongue and even his teeth until he had her moaning with need.
She pulled away, looked over her shoulder, and then turned back with a smile.
“Seems like you don’t need me to rev your engine. I can see you’re ready for round two without any assistance.”
“What can I say, Lena. I’ve got ten years of fucking to make up to you.”
“You romantic, you!"
Alex laughed and flexed his hips. "Take me inside your tight pussy and fuck me! I need to get inside you."
"And you don’t need to do it all in one night.”
“I’ve got to get in all I can. I have a feeling that after that operation, I’m not going to be able to perform again for a while. Baby, if I could, I’d spend the next week buried inside your pussy.”
He watched her blush and grinned up at her.
“Do you want me to untie you?”
“You realize that once you do I’m going to flip you onto your back and fuck your brains out for the rest of the night?”
“I certainly hope so!”
“Well, then, as long as you’re on board with the program, I’ll let you take charge this last time. Ride me hard, baby, because once I'm free I'm not going to stop until I've made up for some of those lost years.”
