“Good. Now tell me why you thought I wanted to punish you.”

Annie gulped. “I guess I kind of knew that I should call you. Bruce even told me that you needed to be called but I thought that I could handle the situation. I didn’t see that you needed to be involved.”

Mike nodded. “Annie, I need to be involved in everything in order to feel secure and confident that my loved ones are safe. You can call it whatever you like, but that is what I need. Do you understand that?” She nodded. “Did you know that and decide that my feelings weren’t important or were you thinking that I would just have to deal with the loss of control?”

Annie shrugged. “I wasn’t thinking about your feelings I was thinking that you would just have to deal with the loss of control.”

Mike pursed his lips. “I see. Now that we’ve talked about it do you think you should be punished?”

“Yes, I do feel you have the right to punish me for what I did.”

Mike inhaled. “I think that would change the parameters of our relationship, don’t you?” Annie nodded. “Am I correct to assume that Bruce and you spoke about this decision?” She nodded again. Mike pursed his lips, deep in thought. Finally he pushed off the table and left her standing alone in the room. He walked out to where Bruce was sitting on the couch…..
