STORY EXCERPT

Hisoka Henderson never expected to fall in love with his boss. He certainly hadn’t anticipated falling in love with his boss who also happened to be a caster, a man with the ability to magically manipulate the world around him. If that wasn’t enough of a shock, Hisoka found out that he himself wasn’t even as human as he originally thought. Instead, he is a familiar, a sort of caster lucky charm whose presence enhanced his chosen caster’s magick.

If that wasn’t enough stress on a fledgling relationship, Ciel’s magical family didn’t approve so now they were at a sort of stalemate while both sides waited for the other to cave into their wishes. Hisoka worried his bottom lip. Ciel said that he didn’t care what his family thought of the situation of what the Circle, their governing body, thought about the match, but Hisoka wasn’t so sure.

“You can’t quit your job, Ciel,” Hisoka said as Ciel brought in a tray of drinks for the two of them.

The man was as gorgeous and put together as he always was. Despite the fact that they no longer had to go into the office, he wore button-ups and slacks more often than not. It was good though because it really suited him. With vibrant red hair and eyes an unreal metallic shade of gold, he had a boardroom rock star thing going on that really worked. Coupled by his charming personality and gorgeous six-foot frame, Ciel was almost impossible to resist ninety percent of the time.

He’d been staying over at Ciel’s more often than not in the weeks since he’d been fired from Express, the company they’d both worked at that was owned by Ciel’s father. He felt bad about imposing even though Ciel swore up and down that he wasn’t.

He licked his bottom lip. “This new venture has been costing way too much money, and I’m about to get kicked out of my apartment as is. Maybe you should go back to your job and I should start looking for something while I’m trying to figure things out.”

Ciel gave him the same indulgent smile he usually did when he was talking about Ciel going back to work. “Babe, as I’ve told you, I have plenty of money for this. The cost of startup is always astronomical. It’s fine. I’m perfectly capable of handling this. I even have a few former clients of Express interested in our services once we get things running. It will be fine.” He tilted his head to the side as he took in Hisoka’s expression. “Do you need me to lend you some money? I don’t mind giving you an advance on future work. I plan to pay you ridiculously well.”

Hisoka sighed. That was just what he was afraid of. “I want to pay me what I deserve for the work I do and nothing extra.” Ciel didn’t quite understand that showering someone with gifts wasn’t necessarily as flattering as he thought it was.

Ciel frowned as he handed him over his martini. “Are you saying that as my employee or as my boyfriend?”

“Both!” Hisoka snapped. “Christ, Ciel. I don’t need you to be my sugar daddy.”

Ciel sat the tray down on the coffee table and sat down beside Hisoka, taking both of his hands in his own. “I’m not trying to be your sugar daddy,” he said, his lilting accent thickening with emotion. “I’m trying to take care of you. You’re my partner, not just my business partner, and more importantly than that, you’re my familiar. I need to take care of you more than I need anything else. Anyone’s boyfriend would offer to help. I can just help more than most.”

Ciel was so sweet to him it was almost impossible to resist. “I still feel bad.”

“Well, don’t. Taking care of you makes me happy.” It was such a change from the Ciel of a few months ago. The man had told Hisoka from the beginning that he didn’t do relationships and not to expect anything from their tussle at the end of a company party, but things had quickly changed between them.

Ciel leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Hisoka’s lips. “Babe, I want you to move in with me. I hate when you have to go to your place to grab things, and I see no reason why you would have to keep paying rent on a place you’re never really at anyway. If it will make you feel better you can pay me rent when you start working, but it’s going to be reasonable rent. Okay?”

Hisoka nodded before he thought better of it. “You know, you could spoil a man very easily, Ciel.”

Ciel grinned, completely unapologetic. “I aim to spoil you, Hisoka. You’ve not been spoiled nearly enough.”

Though Hisoka hadn’t shared too much of his past with him, he suspected that Ciel had a pretty good idea his life hadn’t been overly pleasant. He’d made a new life for himself, but it had been lacking something until Ciel had walked into his life. He smiled. Everything was going to be just fine. They were going to have a life together complete with a new business and lots of magick. What more could a boy ask for?

ADULT EXCERPT

“Ciel, I can make the pain go away,” Hisoka whispered. “According to the book I can anyway.”

“Yeah?”

“It’s a fun way.”

“No riddles. Less teasing. More telling.” Ciel really didn’t have the patience to wait for Hisoka to come clean. He was weak and tired and really wanted to feel better.

Hisoka laughed, the sound low and amused. “So impatient. Just like a St. Germaine.”

“Hisoka…”

“Sex.”

Ciel frowned, his eyes popping open in surprise. “Sex?”

“I already did the runes,” he said, pointing to the faint smudges in clear oil on his naked chest. “We just have to do the deed and it’ll contain the binding for at least a day.”

“Ah. I see.” Most shared spells between casters and familiars required some kind of “essence” to increase the potency of the magick and solidify the spell.

“It’s either cum or blood. You take your pick,” Hisoka said. The fact that he offered Ciel a compromise told him that Hisoka was feeling sorry for him. Hisoka nearly fainted when Ciel had cut himself with a kitchen knife.

“Hm, cum is always more fun.” He wanted to make Hisoka feel good. There was no way he was going to let him be hurt on his account.

“Did I mention I love you?” Hisoka asked, burrowing his face in Ciel’s neck and half laying on top of his chest.

“Not in the past few hours but I think that can be remedied easily enough,” Ciel murmured, enjoying the feeling of his lover pressed close to his body.

He might have not been feeling well, but he still put the effort into tilting Hisoka’s head up so he could lay a kiss on Hisoka’s plush lips. He kissed down Hisoka’s neck while his hands traced Hisoka’s body. He started at his neck and then slid down to trace his lover’s pectoral muscles. He pinched his nipples hard, causing the flesh to redden beautifully. Ciel sank his teeth into the soft skin of Hisoka’s shoulder to mark him, soothing the bite with a swipe of his tongue.

The depth of control Hisoka held over him scared him. He had the potential to wreck him in the worst of ways as his familiar, but he couldn’t even think of walking away. They were bound, and that was all there was to it. However, it didn’t stop thoughts of his loss from giving him nightmares. If the Circle demanded they break their bond… He didn’t even want to think of it.

Hisoka gripped his cock, pulling him from his wayward thoughts. The stroking hand on his arousal felt good, and his pain was fading away with every subsequent touch. His hips started bucking on their own accord as the arousal took precedence over everything else.

He placed his hand over Hisoka’s, increasing the firmness of the grip so that they were playing with his body as if they were one person. “Harder,” he growled. “If you want it you’re going to have to make it good. More.” His head kicked back, and he closed his eyes, images of Hisoka’s tight body under his own flashing like a movie behind his eyelids. “That’s it,” he breathed. “Give me your lips. Give me everything.” He was anxious to reach the precipice, but at the same time he never wanted this to stop. This was madness, intoxication. This was Hisoka.

He wrapped his free hand around Hisoka’s cock to jerk it in unison. Hisoka whimpered. “Fuck. That feels good,” Hisoka gasped.

“I’m close,” he said, his balls drawing up in warning.

Hisoka’s grip eased. “Not yet.” He winked, mischief written in every line of his face.

He swung his leg over Ciel’s hips, a tube of slick in his grip. His headache pulsed as Hisoka fumbled with the cap, but Hisoka’s touch soon returned and it eased once more. Huh. He’s not exaggerating.

Without preamble Hisoka sank down on Ciel’s cock. He groaned as his dick was encompassed in the heat of Hisoka’s gorgeous body. Nothing had ever felt as good as Hisoka did. Familiars were meant to fit perfectly with their casters, and Hisoka was not an exception. He was perfect for lack of a more imaginative word.

“Ciel,” Hisoka whispered, his name like a prayer. “Feels so good to have you inside me.” His eyes were screwed shut and his teeth sunk into his bottom lip as his hips started to rock.
