Now, if Frank can't find him before the hunters do, Jesse will die. He needs to explain, to protect his lover before anything worse can happen.
What Frank does not expect is to find his mate heavily pregnant in the middle of nowhere. Thank God he found him, too. A pregnant male will die without his mate to help with the birth, but with the hunters still out there, Jesse might not make it to their birth of their child at all.

I am an honest-to-goodness sucker for an mpreg. Even more when there's a birth involved.

I liked this story probably the best because it was different from the last four. It's always nice to get some variety in the storyline. Plus, Jessie was freaking adorable and so was Frank.

It's so nice to see this pack getting a little bigger. I see the author is still holding on to the Eddie and Brooks's brother's potential story. Frustrating that Eddie hasn't said anything to anyone, though. Doesn't seem believable but then again I just read a book where a man had a baby. Reality is not a priority here! *snort*

5 FLAMES: "The luna werewolves are back, and what a story this one proved to be! The title had me perk up because I love mpreg, the blurb promised two new characters who might join Dakota’s pack, and with the hunters still around there was bound to be lots of excitement. With Jesse already on the run when the book starts, and Frank in hot and desperate pursuit, the suspense started early. I was glad to see that the characters from the first couple of books were still around and ready to help – these two guys needed all the help they could get. If you like stories where men carry the burdens of pregnancy just as much as women, if you want to see how not telling the truth can almost destroy a relationship, and if you’re looking for a read that is as suspenseful as it is heartwarming – and hot! – then you will probably like this novella."—Serena, Rainbow Book Reviews

STORY EXCERPT

“What happened to the father?”

Now Jesse really froze up. Every muscle in his body went painfully tight. “What?”

Calvin pointed at his stomach for a brief second, his voice going lower, softer, as though he didn’t want the truckers to hear him. “The alpha that got you pregnant. What happened to him? I can hear the second heartbeat.”

And now Jesse’s heart was drumming against his ribcage. He couldn’t think. He could hardly focus or breathe and that ringing noise was getting louder in his ears. He needed to get the hell out of here because...holy shit, this guy knew. He knew and it was way too damned much for him to deal with.

“You gonna be sick?”

Jesse nodded, putting a hand to big stomach and sliding out of the booth.

Calvin caught him, pulling him to the bathroom. “Be back, Renny.”

Oh fuck, he wasn’t going to make it. He wasn’t going to make it.

When they got to the men’s room, Jesse puked. Getting some of the food he’d just eaten on the floor, on Calvin’s shoes, and into the toilet.

Christ, what a mess.

Calvin didn’t yell or seem disgusted, he rubbed Jesse’s back, as if this was okay, as if this was supposed to be normal.

“Don’t you worry. Don’t be scared. We can help you,” he said.

Jesse shook his head. “No you can’t.”

“If someone hurt your alpha, we can keep you safe now. We’re forming a pack. There’s enough of us to help.”

“A pack?”

Those words made Jesse tense up all over again. He looked over his shoulder at the man with the scarred face, and he was reminded of the thing Frank had turned into when he’d killed those people.

Big, hair and mean. Hackles raised and bushy tail swaying. The worst was the claws. Hooked like eagle talons, or crescent moons, and they’d been on his feet and his hands. He had the face and head of a wolf when he’d killed those two men. The only reason why the third had escaped was because Frank had come after Jesse after that.

If Jesse hadn’t jumped into the truck and driven away, who knows what would’ve happened.

And this man was talking about being in a pack, as if that was supposed to be some normal thing, as if there were more creatures like that.

What if this guy was one of those creatures? One of those things that could saw through a human being like a soldering iron through cheap plastic.

And this man...he was one of them. Jesse could see that now. He pushed himself away from the toilet.

Calvin looked at him like he just realized something. “Was it your alpha that hurt you?”

Jesse shook his head. “I have to go.”

“We can help you.”

“Get out of my way.”

Jesse ducked under Calvin’s arm when the man didn’t move out of the way. He rushed out of the bathroom, hearing the footsteps behind him.

Jesse didn’t care about the people who looked at him funny when he rushed out of the bathroom, lightheaded and scared.

“What happened?” Renny asked.

“Nothing,” Calvin replied, still hot on Jesse’s tail.

Jesse quickly grabbed the box of food and rushed out the door, still staggering, still feeling weak and like he might puke again. He had to get to his car. That was the best place for him to be right now, and if he could just get there, everything would be fine, and he would be safe.

The noise of big trucks and the smell of exhaust made him double over and throw up again. Calvin put his hand on Jesse’s back.

“We can help you.”

“Stay away from me!” Jesse stumbled away. His car was right there. An old piece of shit, but it had locks on it, and he could get inside and stay safe. That’s what he needed.

What he should have seen coming was when the other grabbed him by the arm, yanking him to a stop. “No, don’t go.”

“Let me go.”

“You’re pregnant and alone. You’ll die without an alpha to help you give birth. How far along are you?”

Jesse looked up into the man’s eyes, a new terror flooding through him as he soaked up what he’d just said.

Die? Did he say die? As in the baby would kill him?

Huh, guess he should’ve seen that coming. It wasn’t like he’d magically sprouted a vagina despite magically getting pregnant.

Jesse dropped his box of food and sank to his knees. Calvin went with him, not letting him go.

“I promise, we can find a way to make this right. “Whoever hurt you will pay.”

He didn’t want Frank to pay. Oddly enough, despite the fact that it was Frank who’d done this to him, Jesse realized he wanted Frank here with him more than anyone in the world.

Someone was clearly listening, because his wish was granted when he heard Frank’s voice for the first time in months.

“Get away from him!”

He should’ve known the man would find him. Something had been telling Jesse that he wouldn’t have been able to stay away for long.

ADULT EXCERPT

“Getting a little impatient?”

The tension in Jesse’s shoulders went slack as he must have realized the growl hadn’t been a threatening one. He even smiled over his shoulder.

“Kind of. Haven’t been laid here in a while, and it’s hard to jerk off when your stomach is as big as a couple of basketballs.”

Frank wouldn’t have gone that big, but he chuckled at the comparison as he thrust his hips forward, sliding his cock against Jesse’s ass again and again, teasing the man, letting Jesse feel him as he pushed the head of his cock again and again against his asshole, but never pushed inside him.

Jesse moaned and shivered.

Frank shook his head. “You’d think you’d remember that I have to get you ready first.”

Just one look at Jesse and Frank could tell he was tight. Jesse hadn’t been putting any toys inside himself. He’d either been waiting knowingly, or instinctively.

Jesse groaned when Frank thrust against him again. “Then can you please hurry up and get me ready?” he begged.

Frank kissed Jesse’s shoulder blades, still thrusting, still teasing. “I think there’s something in here I can use.”

Jesse didn’t know this yet, but Dakota had given Frank a small bottle of lube.

Dakota was an alpha with a pregnant mate. He would have known exactly what Frank and Jesse had needed. He said he wanted them to be prepared so they can do what needed to be done without any interruption.

Frank had been grateful for the gift at the time, even as he’d thought there was no chance in hell that Jesse would let Frank make love to him. Not yet.

Well, here they were, but being in the bathroom meant there were other things on hand that could be useful.

That bottle of conditioner over there was looking excellent.

Frank reached for it, grabbing it up and popping the cap open with his thumb. He poured some of the white stuff into his hand. It wouldn’t be the same, but it would work for now, and considering how soft and slick the stuff was, maybe it wasn’t such a bad alternative.

Jesse moaned when Frank pressed his finger to his pucker. He shivered when Frank pushed it inside of him, too.

And Frank was so eager when he felt the tight muscles squeeze around his digit. God, that was good. That was so amazingly good. He almost couldn’t believe that it had been so long since he’d had his lover like this.

Once again, the wolf inside him popped up, telling him to hurry up, to get on with it. It was as impatient as Frank was.

Do you want to hurt him or what? Be patient you stupid furball.

Sometimes Frank didn’t know if he was talking to himself, or the wolf inside, but the creature seemed to relax once more after that.

Frank added another finger. Jesse looked over his shoulder, and he moaned.

“Is this too rough?”

Jesse shook his head, not saying anything, just gasping for breath.

It was all Frank needed to know what his mate wanted, and he was going to give it to him.

Frank hooked his fingers, finding Jesse’s prostate easily, and pleased with himself that he’d been able to find it, that he hadn’t forgotten where it was.

He’d learned Jesse’s body quickly when they’d first started sleeping together, especially that first night where they’d probably fucked more than twelve times in a row.

Mating heats could do that to a couple.

But when Jesse had vanished, Frank had become afraid that he would forget. He’d been terrified that he’d forget how Jesse smelled, how he tasted, and what he liked when they were kissing and touching each other like this.

He hadn’t forgotten, not if those soft moans were anything to go by. Not if the way Jesse continued to thrust back against him was anything to go by either.

“F-Frank, I need you,” Jesse moaned, looking back at him, so damned sexy. “Please.”

It was the please that did it. Frank wanted to make absolutely sure that Jesse could handle him. It had been so long, and he was now carrying a pup, but Frank had wanted to stretch Jesse out until he was sure the man would be ready for what came next.

He couldn’t do that. The little he’d done was going to have to be enough because now the wolf inside him was really starting to growl and claw its way to the top.

It was going to be the both of them that did this. He just hoped he didn’t scare Jesse when it happened, because Frank couldn’t keep the wolf totally at bay.

Frank pulled his fingers from Jesse’s hole. Not a minute too soon, either. His claws began to form. Not all the way, but enough that he left small scratches on Jesse’s hips when he grabbed them.

Easy, easy. Stupid wolf. Don’t hurt our mate.

The claws retracted, but the alpha was still there, very much alive and part of what was happening.

It rumbled a low noise, almost apologetically.

Good. It wasn’t as wild as Frank had feared.

He lined up the head of his cock with Jesse’s hole, moaning at the touch, and he pushed inside.

Jesse moaned, his fingers curling, as though he was trying to claw at the tile.

The first push was a little hard. There definitely hadn’t been enough preparation, but when the fat head of his cock finally popped through that tight ring, Frank sighed.

The wolf inside his head howled. They finally, finally had what they had been craving all this time. What they had been needing so desperately.

“Fuck me, Frank. God, please. I need you.”

If he kept saying that Frank might start to cry, because he needed his mate, too.

He was never going to give Jesse a reason to run from him again. He would never let his mate be so scared of him, so scared of the things around him that he felt his only option was to flee.

“You remember that first night we were together?” Frank asked, whispering the words into Jesse’s ear, right before he gently bit down on the fleshy earlobe.

Jesse shivered. “Christ, how could I forget? I couldn’t walk right for a week when you were finished with me.”

Frank would’ve laughed out loud had he not been so high strung up on his lust. It was true, he could remember that night and the many times they’d been together before the exhaustion of the mating got to the both of them.

“I’m going to do that to you again.”
