“Dad!” the sound of Makenlee’s voice drew his attention. He turned to see his daughter with Lucas trailing behind her and behind Lucas was someone else.

Daniel opened his arms to hug his daughter but stared over her head to look at the stranger. It was a tall, thin man with neatly styled light brown hair, wearing a pair of black rimmed glasses. He was smiling and his brown eyes shone like two brightly colored amber stones. His skin was a creamy pale and looked smooth to the touch. Daniel wondered what it would feel like against his palm.

What the fuck? Daniel quickly darted his gaze around the room to see if anyone had caught him eye balling the man with the glasses.

“Dad, I want you to meet someone.” Makenlee stepped away from him and walked over to the stranger. “This is Archer, and he’s hilarious.”

“I see you’ve met the ever important Makenlee.” Dane reached out to tug on Makenlee’s lopsided ponytail. “She’s adorable isn’t she?” Dane looked at Archer which gave Daniel a few more seconds to stare at the man.

“Hey!” Makenlee swatted at Dane’s hand. “Its Mack, and I’m not adorable. That’s insulting.”

Archer held his hand out for Makenlee to high five him. “You tell him, Mack. Just because you’re a girl doesn’t give him the right to get all mushy on you.”

“Daniel, this is Archer.” Reed shook his head as he laughed. “He’s Dane’s uncle.”

“Uncle?” Daniel darted his gaze between the two men.

“I’m a late in life baby for my folks. I’m only four years older than Dane.” Archer looked at Daniel in a way that touched him. Daniel could swear he could feel the man’s eyes on him like a caress. “When people typically hear the word uncle they think of an old person.”

“You are old.” Dane teased. “Mack, I was just telling your dad here that he should hire Arch here to watch you this summer.” Daniel sent a glare to Dane. “Lucas starts classes next week, and Archer is taking a hiatus from his other job. I think you two could have a lot of fun this summer. What do you think?”

“Uh hello!” Archer tapped Dane on the shoulder. Daniel watched the exchange. “You didn’t even ask me.” Archer looked down at Makenlee. “Not that I don’t want to because that would be so awesome to hang with you this summer.” Archer turned back to Dane. “You’re putting everyone on the spot. Maybe Daniel doesn’t want me to watch his kid. He did just meet me after all.”

“He’s cool, Daniel.” Lucas said around a mouthful of donut. It was a good think that kid was a shifter or he’d be a big as a house. “The nose doesn’t lie.” He tapped a finger to his nose. “I mean he’s a fox, but besides that he’s okay.”

“Shove another donut in your mouth, Lucas.” Makenlee shoved at her uncle’s stomach. She whirled around to face Daniel. “Can he, daddy?” Oh, she was using the big guns and calling him daddy. “Please say Archer can hang with me this summer.”

“Princess.” Daniel hid his grin as Makenlee gagged at the endearment. “He might not even want to.” Daniel looked up to see that Archer was staring back at him. Archer’s cheeks were flushed and his eyes were glowing. Daniel was mesmerized for a second too long. Something inside him told him he could trust this man. “Do you want to?” Daniel asked Archer.

“I’d love to.” Archer smiled this smile that set a fire off inside Daniel. His cock shifted in his slacks, and he jerked in surprise. What is that about? “I’ll hang with Lucas and Mack here and learn the routine.”

“Don’t you even want to know what it pays?” Daniel asked.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m not doing it for the money. Mack’s a friend, and you don’t pay people to hang with a friend, am I right sista?” Archer held his hand out for Makenlee to smack again.

“Damn straight.” Makenlee slapped Archer’s hand.

“Makenlee! Language.” Daniel had to stop himself from laughing. His little girl was far from being a little lady. Which might not be a bad thing. If it kept the boys away as she got older, Daniel was completely fine with the tomboy nature his daughter had picked up.

“Well if that’s settled, I need to get to work on my patient.” Reed patted the back of the patient chair. “Hope up Mack. No more stalling.”

“I brought you donuts and muffins so just remember that.” She pointed a finger at him as he hopped into the chair. “I scratched your back, now you scratch mine.”

“Holy crap.” Archer giggled. “Where did she learn this stuff?”

“Youtube.” Daniel glared over at Lucas.

“It’s funny stuff.” Lucas shrugged.

Daniel stood up and asked Archer to follow him. Lucas stayed behind to harass Makenlee.

“Um, yeah I appreciate the offer, but are you sure you want to watch my kid all summer?” Daniel cut right to the chase. He wanted to give Archer an out.

“I do.” Archer nodded, a smile gracing his full lips. “But I do understand if you want someone with more experience.” Archer looked off to the side as if remembering something fondly. “Some of my best memories are hanging with Dane and Emma. Kids are fun and not so complicated. It’s easy to be around them, and they tell you how it is. So, yes. If you’re asking if I really want this job, then yes.”

“I can pay you three-fifty a week.”

“No.” Archer reached out to touched Daniel’s hand, and Daniel’s knees went weak. It reminded him of when Kelsey would touch him, gentle, soft, and arousing. “I meant it. You don’t have to pay me. I’ve got more money than I’ll ever need. Hanging out with your kid is just as much helping me out as it is you.”

“Okay.” Daniel nodded. He grabbed out one of his business cards and handed it to Archer. A spark of anger started to boil in his stomach. Guilt and self-hate were overcoming him. How was he feeling attracted to this man? He wasn’t gay, and his wife had only died a year ago. It wasn’t Archer’s fault, but Daniel needed to get out of here. “Here’s my cell. Call me later and we can iron out the rest of the details. I really should get back to work. Bye.” Daniel rushed out the door, ignoring Archer’s voice as he called out to him.

“Oh god,” Daniel moaned as Archer’s hot wet mouth engulfed him. Archer hummed around his length, and Daniel had to claw at the leather of the couch to keep from leaping into the air. This felt so good. Archer applied just enough suction and teased at the tip, digging his tongue into the tiny slit.

Daniel combed his fingers through Archer’s messy, light brown hair, moving his left hand to the back of his skull to help guide him. All too soon Archer was pulling away. Daniel opened his eyes and gave him a questioning look. Archer just smiled and slid his shorts to the floor. His pale skin was flushed a bright pink with his arousal and, like Daniel imagined, his chest was smooth and free of any hair.

“Come here.” Daniel curled his finger inward, beckoning Archer closer.

Archer climbed onto his lap and shifted so that Daniel’s cock was pressed up against Archer’s crack. Archer slid up and down on his length driving Daniel insane with need. Daniel sat up enough to reach around to rub his fingers up and down Archer’s hot crease. Archer jerked in his arms as Daniel pressed the tip of his finger against the tiny rippled opening. He seemed so small back there, and Daniel was afraid he wouldn’t fit.

Daniel brought his hand back around and sucked them into his mouth and got them wet. He then placed them back at Archer’s opening and eased one finger inside. Archer cried out, arching his neck back, pushing himself back further to sink onto Daniel’s fingers. Daniel pressed his face into Archer’s chest, moving to suck on his right nipple as he fingered his hole. The walls were smooth and soft, and Daniel so badly wanted to shove his cock inside Archer. To claim him, mark him, to make Archer his.

“Now.” Archer used his hand to pull Daniel’s chin upward so they were staring into each other’s eyes. “I’m ready. Are you?”

Daniel pulled his fingers free from Archer’s ass, grabbed his cock and positioned it at Archer’s opening. He smacked the wet tip against Archer’s twitching hole, then pressed the fat head inside. Archer pushed up on his knees as if to get away and Daniel stopped. Archer then plopped down fast and hard on Daniel’s hard length, taking all eight inches in deep. Daniel shouted and Archer moaned as they were now fully connected, no space between them.

The hot heat surrounded him, and Daniel’s cock pulsed with the need to come. Archer slumped against him, breathing heavy and digging his nails into Daniel’s shoulders.

“Hey, you okay?” Daniel lightly caressed his hands up and down Archer’s back.

“More than.” Archer slowly sat up, grinning at him.

Daniel pulled Archer close to kiss his swollen lips and they began to move together in a slow dance of love and need. The love making had a slow burn to it. It felt as if neither of them wanted this to end. Daniel had to assume that Archer was worried that he’d run off again and avoid him but there wasn’t going to happen. There was no going back from this. Archer filled a hole in his heart left by Kelsey. Not that Archer was some second class replacement or anything like that. Archer and Kelsey were different, yet so much alike. They loved with their whole heart and cared for those who didn’t deserve it. People like Daniel.

“Daniel,” Archer moaned. “I’m so close.” He whimpered and started to rise and fall on top of Daniel’s steel shaft. “Yes.” Archer’s ears had shifted into points and tuffs of light brown fur covered his arms and his nails had grown to sharp points. His eyes glowed like liquid amber as they bore into Daniel’s.

“I’m right here, baby.” Daniel pulled Archer down against his hips and thrust up into Archer. He then reached between them and wrapped his fingers around Archer’s cock and pumped his fist in time with the snap of his hips. He was so close.

A gush of warm heat spilled over his fingers as Archer came and shouted Daniel’s name. The twitching of Archer’s muscles around Daniel’s cock sent him over the edge, and Daniel unleashed his pleasure deep inside Archer. He could feel his sticky juices painting Archer’s inner walls, forever leaving a piece of himself inside the other man.

Daniel held onto Archer as their breathing came back to normal. Their sweaty bodies stuck together, and Daniel never wanted to let go. He was afraid if given the chance to think about it, Archer might chose not to be with him. After all, Daniel was a widower with a child and Archer was a man free of any burdens. Would he want to be tied down with a child and a mate?
